On this day: 16th May, 1893 - The late Thomas Bleakley born in Little Hulton. Half back, made 402 appearances for City (1918-29). 1918 - The late Wilf Mannion born in Middlesbrough. A former England international inside forward, joined City at the age of 36 in 1954, scored once in 17 games before being banned from playing professional football for making allegations in the newspaper regarding black market transfer dealings. 2001 - Leyton Orient overturn their first leg defeat to knock City out of the play-offs, winning 2-0 at Brisbane Road and 2-1 on aggregate. Click here for more results from this day in history.
