Windass begins work as player-coach under Colin Todd at Darlington tomorrow. He's joined by former Hull City teammates Matt Plummer and James Bennett. Neither Plummer, a defender and former youth team captain, nor Bennett, a midfielder who joined Lincoln City on loan last season, made it into the Tigers' first team despite signing professionally.
Meanwhile, John Welsh and Ryan France have returned closer to their roots after their contracts ended on Tuesday. Welsh is now at Tranmere and France is at Sheffield Wednesday. Both have only joined for a trial period, hoping to earn contracts. |
